Sprouting Up All Over

Sprouting Up All Over

The bioSnacky 10-Day Sprouting Challenge is drawing to a close.

As the bioSnacky 10-Day Sprouting Challenge comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on the health benefits of sprouts.

The sprouts I grew (pictured above) are the bioSnacky Fitness Mix. They’re an organic quick-growing mixture of wheat seeds, mung beans, and radish that germinated in about five days.

Health benefits

These tiny, vibrant sprouts are nutritional powerhouses. Did you know that sprouting alkalizes acidic grains and legumes? It also neutralizes enzyme inhibitors in foods, making food easier to digest and making it easier for the body to absorb acid-binding minerals such as calcium, magnesium, iron, copper, and zinc.

Summer fare

Sprouts are light and versatile, lending their subtle flavours to sandwiches, salads, and stir-fries—I think they’re perfect summer fare.

If you’d like to grow your own sprouts, I’d suggest checking out the bioSnacky website for sprouting tips, tricks, and detailed growing information for each type of sprout. Happy sprouting!
